About the Artist

Biog
Monika Crowley graduated with an MFA in Fine Art from NCAD in 2025, following a 20-year detour through advertising. Her multidisciplinary practice explores the absurdity of the everyday through expanded print, painting, and installation. As Visual Arts Director at Ranelagh Arts, she has expanded the artist network and curated a lively programme spanning visual art, theatre, film, music, and public engagement. A former member of Blackchurch and now with Graphic Studio Dublin, her work is widely exhibited and held in national collections. She has received two Agility Awards and funding for travel and research from Paul Mellon Foundation and the Thomas Dammann Trust.

A body of work, DOMESTIC, was exhibited as part of Meat & Potatoes, Crawford Gallery, 2022, and subsequently purchased for the National Collection. In November 2022 Ranelagh Arts hosted SINK, the first showcase of her multidisciplinary practice, incorporating expanded print and painting.

In 2023, took on the role of  Visual Arts Director at Ranelagh Arts where she has; expanded and engaged their artist network beyond the local; curated an event of Music, Film, Theatre and Art around the themes and influence of Antonin Artaud in conjunction with IMMA and The French Embassy & Alliance Française network in Ireland; initiated an Emerging Curator Award in collaboration with Angelica Network.

In The Visual Artists’ News Sheet, Jan/Feb 2025 issue, Monika Crowley discusses a site-specific sculpture commissioned by EV+A in 2004, now held in the National Collection on exhibition at IMMA – written from her research and interviews with artist and choreographer Michael Kliën.

Her MFA graduate installation in Rua Red June 2025 was long-listed for the RDS Visual Art Award and shortlisted for the Global Creative Graduate Showcase 2025, in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture and Monaco Foundry.
